I had a little socky
I had a little socky
It escaped from my top drawer
Grew arms and legs, a socky head
Then fled my bedroom door!
It slid along the hallway
Like all sockies love to do
Went sliding through the kitchen
Then out the front door too!
So off full pelt, my socky flew
A hopping down the street
It wondered if there’s other socks
Out running without feet
It hopped towards the city
And saw socks all stuck in shoes
It yelled, ‘Escape! Off to the beach’
‘You’ve nothing left to lose!’
The socks all got excited
And tripped up their owners’ feet
Untied the laces, blew off their shoes
And joined together in the street!
A thousand socks ran wild and free
A wonder for the eye
Down Williams Street towards Kings Cross
The Coke sign, then Bondi!
Into the sea, the sockies splashed
All sizes, big and small
And floated on their socky backs
Without a care at all
